UNS N08825, commonly known as Incoloy 825 or Nickel Alloy 825, is an important nickel-iron-chromium based corrosion-resistant alloy. This article will briefly introduce its key properties, main chemical composition, core advantages, and typical industrial applications, providing material selection references for engineers and purchasing personnel.
Key Chemical Composition and Performance Characteristics
The high nickel content of the 825 alloy gives it excellent resistance to chloride ion stress corrosion cracking. The addition of chromium and molybdenum endows the material with good resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in oxidizing and non-oxidizing acidic environments. The addition of copper significantly enhances its corrosion resistance in reducing environments such as sulfuric acid and phosphoric acid. Titanium is added to the alloy and stabilized through heat treatment, effectively preventing intergranular corrosion susceptibility in the heat-affected zone after welding and ensuring the durability of welded structural components.
Advantages: It remains stable in a wide range of corrosive media, including sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, nitric acid, organic acids, seawater, and alkaline solutions.
The material maintains good mechanical properties from room temperature to medium-high temperatures (approximately 550°C), exhibiting both strength and toughness.
Good machinability and weldability make the manufacture and installation of piping systems more convenient and reliable.
