What is Nickel Alloy 601？

Alloy 601 is a nickel-based alloy with excellent high temperature oxidation resistance. In high temperature environments, Alloy 601 is able to form a dense oxide film that provides effective protection against oxidation. This makes it ideal for many devices and systems that need to operate at high temperatures.

Nickel and chromium are the main components of Alloy 601 and they give the alloy excellent oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance. The addition of other elements modulates and optimises the mechanical and thermal properties of the alloy.
The oxidation resistance of alloy 601 is mainly attributed to the characteristics of its alloy composition and microstructure. The alloy contains a high proportion of nickel and chromium elements, which have good antioxidant properties. In addition, the alloy is supplemented with moderate amounts of aluminium and titanium elements, which are able to react with oxygen to form a dense oxide layer that further enhances the antioxidant properties. This oxide layer prevents oxygen and other harmful substances from penetrating into the interior of the alloy, thereby extending the service life of the alloy.
