EFW Welding Process
EFW (Electric Fusion Welded) is a high-strength pipe manufacturing process that utilizes electric arc welding technology to form robust seams through the shaping of single steel plates and submerged arc welding. This technique produces weld seams with a thickness of 3–5 mm, capable of withstanding ultra-high-pressure conditions of ≥6 MPa. It is particularly well-suited for manufacturing large-diameter, thick-walled pipes, capable of processing steel plates up to 40 mm in thickness to produce pipes with a nominal diameter (DN) of 1200 mm. By employing a dual inspection method—combining ultrasonic testing with X-ray radiography—the process ensures a 100% acceptance rate for weld seams. It demonstrates exceptional performance in critical application fields such as oil and gas wellheads, high-pressure gas storage, and long-distance transmission pipelines.
