Material Properties of Duplex Steel

2205 duplex steel and 2507 super duplex steel combine the dual advantages of austenite and ferrite, offering high yield strength and excellent resistance to chloride pitting corrosion. This material is specifically designed to replace conventional stainless steel in extreme high-pressure environments characterized by high salt fog and high hydrogen sulfide concentrations. MTSCO’s welded tubes ensure long-term safe pressure containment in oil and gas wellhead fluid control systems and offshore platform piping networks.

How Are Our Welded Tubes Manufactured?

Following the continuous production line for precision welded tubes in our workshop, high-quality steel coils are slit and fed into the forming line for continuous bending. Subsequently, fully automated self-fusion welding is performed using a combination of PAW and GTAW technologies. Immediately after welding, the tubes undergo in-line internal leveling to eliminate excess weld bead height, and are then directly fed into an in-line protective gas solution annealing furnace to complete the solution annealing process. The 1/4-inch welded tubes delivered by MTSCO are produced by fully implementing this automated in-line process, ensuring precise physical dimensions across the entire batch.

Product Standard Analysis

ASTM A789 is a technical specification for corrosion-resistant duplex stainless steel tubes intended for general service. This standard is strictly limited to small- and medium-diameter duplex steel pressure-bearing tubes of this type. The specialty welded tubes supplied by MTSCO fully comply with this standard. The entire batch of tubes fully complies with pressure-bearing physical and chemical indicators, including intergranular corrosion testing, flattening, and flaring, and perfectly meets the stringent requirements for high-strength, high-toughness specialty tubes in reverse osmosis seawater desalination and high-pressure instrument tubing systems.

FAQ

Q1: How does continuous online solution annealing affect the end-use of duplex steel tubes?

A1: This process rapidly eliminates residual stresses caused by fully automated welding and deformation without compromising the surface finish of the steel strip. Post-production physical and chemical property testing ensures that all mechanical performance metrics fully meet standards, preventing the tube body from rupturing under high-pressure impact.

Q2: In addition to the tubes themselves, can you provide related fittings and connection solutions?

A2: Absolutely. This is precisely the advantage of MTSCO’s one-stop supply service. We have held a controlling stake in a specialized fittings factory since 2010. We can provide you with butt-weld fittings, flanges, and other components that are fully compatible with the tubes, ensuring consistency in material and performance throughout the entire piping system.

Q3: Can you customize special dimensions and materials for seawater desalination projects?

A3: Yes. The close collaboration between MTSCO and our subsidiary factory gives us a high degree of flexibility. Whether it involves special wall thicknesses, non-standard dimensions, or high-performance alloy materials, we can provide you with customized production solutions.
