Classification of Nickel Alloys and Corrosion Resistance of Nickel

——Super alloy material selection for extreme working conditions

Explore nickel alloys, the "superalloys" for extreme environments. Learn how classifications like Inconel, Monel, and Hastelloy provide superior corrosion resistance in high-temp, acid, and marine applications.

Nickel alloys are special metal materials formed by adding copper, chromium, molybdenum, iron and other elements to nickel as the matrix. They are "superalloys" developed by modern industry to cope with extreme environments, such as high temperature, high pressure, and strong corrosion. The corrosion resistance of nickel comes from its strong passivation ability.

In corrosive media, nickel can quickly form a dense, stable, and highly adhesive passivation film on the metal surface, which can effectively prevent further corrosion of the internal substrate by the corrosive media. By alloying and adding different elements, nickel based alloys can exhibit much higher resistance than stainless steel in specific corrosive environments.

According to their main alloying elements and performance focus, nickel alloys can be divided into several categories:

Inconel series: The addition of chromium gives it excellent oxidation and carburizing resistance in high-temperature oxidizing environments such as high-temperature air or flue gas, while maintaining high-temperature strength. It is a key material for aerospace and heat treatment furnaces.

Monel series: This type of alloy performs well in reducing acid and strong alkali solutions, and is one of the few materials that can withstand high-speed seawater erosion corrosion. It is widely used in marine engineering and chemical processing.

Hastelloy B series: It is a specialized material for handling hydrochloric acid environments.

Hastelloy C series: It can resist both oxidizing and non oxidizing media, and has strong resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, known as the "universal alloy".

Making these high-performance alloys into reliable pipeline products requires extremely high manufacturing processes. MTSCO, as a professional "factory complex" supplier, has been deeply involved in the field of nickel alloys for nearly 20 years. We have established a deep strategic partnership with the HUXIN factory, which has 35 years of manufacturing experience. With advanced production equipment and strict heat treatment processes, we are able to produce high-quality nickel alloy seamless pipes and welded pipes that meet international standards such as ASTM, EN, GOST, etc. Our products have passed authoritative certifications such as ISO, PED, and M650, and are widely used in demanding fields such as global oil extraction, chemical engineering, and aerospace, providing customers with the most solid safety guarantee.
