Available Flange Types

MTSCO supplies a wide range of common forged flange types, selected based on pipeline connection methods, pressure ratings, installation space, and project standards:

· Slip-On Flange (SO Flange)
Suitable for standard pipeline connections; relatively simple to install and commonly used in low-to-medium pressure piping systems.

· Socket Weld Flange (SW Flange)
Suitable for small-diameter, high-pressure pipelines; the pipe end is inserted into the socket before welding, resulting in a compact connection structure.

· Blind Flange (BL Flange)
Used to seal off pipeline, valve, or equipment ports, facilitating future maintenance, isolation, or pressure testing.

· Weld Neck Flange (WN Flange)
Connected to the pipeline via a butt-weld at the neck; suitable for piping systems subject to high pressure, temperature, or stress.

· Threaded Flange (TH Flange)
Connects to the pipeline via threads; suitable for specific operating conditions where welding is impractical or rapid installation is required.

· Lap Joint Flange (LJ Flange)
Typically used in conjunction with a stub end; ideal for pipelines requiring frequent disassembly or precise bolt-hole alignment.

How are forged flanges manufactured?

Alloy 825 forged flanges typically undergo processes such as raw material re-inspection, cutting, forging, solution treatment, machining, drilling, marking, cleaning, and packaging. Forging is used to form the flange blank, while solution treatment helps optimize the material's condition; subsequent CNC machining ensures precise control over sealing surfaces, hole spacing, and connection dimensions.

Quality Control System

· Raw Material Re-inspection
Raw materials are sourced from major steel mills such as Baosteel, TSINGSHAN, and Yongxin. Each batch requires MTC verification and may undergo re-inspection—including PMI, visual checks, heat/batch information verification, and physical/chemical property testing—to confirm compliance with order requirements.

· Production Process Tracking
Once the flange blank enters production, the entire process is documented using a Process Card. Professional quality inspectors supervise and photograph each stage to ensure full traceability.

· Pre-shipment Inspection
Before shipment, inspections cover flange dimensions, marking, appearance, and packaging condition. MTSCO can also perform PMI, NDT, mechanical property testing, and chemical composition analysis based on project requirements.

Product Standards & Applicability

ASTM B564 applies to nickel alloy forgings, including materials such as Alloy 825 (UNS N08825). This standard is crucial for nickel alloy flange procurement, defining requirements for chemical composition, mechanical properties, heat treatment conditions, and forging quality.

ASME B16.5 and ASME B16.47 focus primarily on dimensional requirements, pressure ratings, sealing surfaces, bolt holes, and connection dimensions. MTSCO can verify and match the material, pressure rating, and connection dimensions of Alloy 825 forged flanges in accordance with ASTM B564, relevant ASME standards, and specific customer technical specifications.

FAQ

Q1: For which corrosive environments are Alloy 825 forged flanges suitable?
A1: Alloy 825 is suitable for acidic media, chloride-containing environments, and pipelines carrying corrosive fluids. Specific application conditions should be confirmed based on medium composition, operating temperature, pressure rating, and project technical specifications.

Q2: How does MTSCO protect flange sealing surfaces to prevent damage during transport?
A2: MTSCO typically equips flanges with protective covers for the sealing surfaces and wraps them in individual bubble bags before packing them into wooden crates, thereby minimizing the risk of damage to the sealing surfaces during transit.

Q3: Do you accept small-batch or customized orders?
A3: Certainly. Thanks to our exclusive partnership with our affiliated manufacturing plants, MTSCO can rapidly respond to your customization needs, whether for non-standard dimensions, special chemical compositions, or specific mechanical property requirements—and deliver efficient solutions.
